This is a list of ‘all’ Bike Week events known about in Edinburgh and is believed to be accurate. Some (marked) are not open to the general public.

Bike Week 2007 is Saturday 16 June to Sunday 24 June, though the Edinburgh Bike Week Film Festival opens on the 15th.

ALPINE BIKES, Hamilton Place, EH3 5AX (0131 225 3286) has registered with the UK Bike Week site that it is offering “free advice on all aspects of cycling, from what kind of bike suits the kind of cycling you do, right through to advice on helmets, locks – even water bottles!” throughout Bike Week (09:00 – 17:00).

Edinburgh RC Cycling Club members are meeting at the new Flamme Rouge for coffee and croissant (£1.95) at 8.30 before Group rides (from beginner to fast experienced) head off along Princes Street (and then East Lothian) at 9.30 to get Bike Week off to a colourful start.

“Cramond Cruiser”

Meet up on the colourful bridge over Roseburn Terrace from 17:30. We will set off around 18:00. The ride will be a friendly affair at a gentle pace, along the old railway path to Granton, then along the Forth Waterfront to Cramond village, where we will be visiting the Cramond Inn for some liquid refreshment and a good blether.

The LCV Bike Ride Adult beginners/easy ride

LCV are the Lothians Conservation Volunteers. We carry out practical nature conservation, mostly on Sundays, in Edinburgh and the Lothians for the benefit of wildlife, people and the environment. Two Capitals Ride


TryCycling Ride to Swanston Village.


Etape Caledonia. Not quite a race. A ride on CLOSED Perthshire roads.


A ‘happening’ on the cycle path at 2-3pm. It’s a live sound and music piece using bicycles and invited musicians, created by artists Vic MacRae and Aileen Campbell. It will take place by the Water of Leith just north of the Great Junction Street Bridge (local access from Coburg Street).


Sunday 24th UCI International Grand Prix of Edinburgh at Meadowbank Velodrome. Spectators welcome.
